IXL

IXL: How it works:

  1. On weeks where IXL is due, your child will start the week taking notes on the concepts and going over teacher-lead problems through a slide presentation. The rest of Monday will be used to start the IXL homework and ask questions. The slide presentation can be found on my school’s website page as a reference; however, it is still a work in progress and needs tweaking.

  2. The online program is homework throughout the week and will be due on the last day of the week. The student must achieve a 90% on each skill assigned for full credit. If a student does not achieve 90%, than the scores will be on a sliding scale. For example, if a child received a 72%, than the child would receive a 7/10 for that skill. Each skill is worth 10 points.

  3. On the last day of the week, students will take a quiz based on that skill. The student may use their notes from the beginning of the week.

  4. Because IXL is a mastery-type program and the idea is for students to continue to improve their understanding of a skill, IXL can always be made up without penalty. Students may improve their scores anytime throughout the quarter. The student MUST send me an email saying which IXL they would like me to review for improvement. I will NOT look back to check it without an email. Also, resubmissions will not be addressed right away, and patience might be required.

  5. Quizzes may also be retaken once for improvement. In order to retake a quiz, the student must have reached 90% in all the skills required for the quiz. The student than must set-up a make-up time with me to take another quiz. The best score will be graded.

  6. 2 points extra credit will be given for each skill mastered at 100%.
